American biochemist & Nobel prize winner Dr. Har Gobind Khorana (89) passed away on November 10, 2011. In 1968 he won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine along with Robert W. Holley & Marshall W. Nirenberg "for their interpretation of the genetic code and its function in protein synthesis." born in January 9, 1922 was an Indian-born American biochemist who shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1968 with Marshall W. Nirenberg and Robert W. Holley for research that helped to show how the nucleotides in nucleic acids, which carry the genetic code of the cell, control the cell's synthesis of proteins. Khorana and Nirenberg were also awarded the Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize from Columbia University in the same year.
Its unfortunate inspite of his contribution to science not at single twitte or messages in news channels, papers or in any social site was vissible, RIP DR Khorana

Ha ha ha...I don't know why we celebrate Nobel Laureate's who just happened to be born here, the true character is helping your nation; not just immigrating to greener pasteures and settle there. I don't really understand why we celebrate Sunita Williams, Khorana, Kalpana Chawla, etc etc; they left this country ages ago !!
